Junior doctors in my hospital are boycotting locum work.

For context I'm a UK Junior doctor working in a relatively large hospital. We've been in dispute with management over locum rates. Currently the trust has set all locum rates the same across vast pay groups: FY1s (1st year doctors) £30/hour SHOs (2nd to about 5th year doctors) £45/hour Registras (anyone in senior training) £65/hour FY1s were the only group to be left out of a pay rise. We don't get paid extra for nights or weekend shifts and we're the only role in the hospital that works like this. We are treated like this because we're junior, rotational and have relatively little bargaining power but the worst part is it effects patient care. If someone is sick, no one is going to accept the same rates on a weekend nightshift that they would get for a 9-5 weekday shift and that leaves gaps in patient care. We will not…

We will not sacrifice what little time off we get for pittance.
