I started this job in march and have been really enjoying it because it’s in the field i’m passionate for. I was a behavioral health counselor at a psych unit and was banking on a planned promotion in 2 months to become a program therapist and had it all set up with the program manager. I was great at my job and all the patients loved me.
The reason they gave was for time card fraud. I never got a warning or a write up they just fired me as soon as i got to work this morning. The company uses a phone app to clock in and out except i was never given access to it despite trying for months with IT and when i mentioned it to my boss she acted like she had no idea. So what I had to do was login to a computer to enter the times onto my time card at the end of my shift each day. Which my supervisor then had to approve. And yea it probably was a little off but this seems ridiculous to me. Shouldn’t it matter more that I was good at my job (and i know they desperately need good staff), rather than how accurately i was able to recall whether i got there at 6 am or 615 am after a 12 hour shift?
I just signed a year long lease at a place that was already too expensive for how much i was making because I was expecting that promotion in September. And I feel like it’s going to be hard to find a new job fast when I have this on my record now..
TL;DR – fired from the first job i really enjoyed after 4 months for time card fraud, with no warning, despite not having access to their phone app to clock in and out.
