Just got home from an interview

I responded to the ad included and just came back from an interview. The manager spent all this time talking about how everyone there is a family, and how they take care of each other. Their ad indicates they require someone with experience, and as you can see, it comes with lots of responsibilities. During the interview, they stressed that this is a physically demanding job, and a lot of people struggle with the non-stop barking and getting bitten frequently. Rent.com states the average rent for a 1-bedroom apartment in my city goes for $2,187. The job pays $8, no benefits. I haven't even heard of a job paying that little in years. That's how much I made at my first-ever job 20 years ago. https://preview.redd.it/xgjd5l37u2p91.jpg?width=1133&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0be22e96ab927d987e899d5d8c20498e8bf37af2 I just sat in silence for a moment. I just sat in silence for a moment. How can they put so much emphasis on saying they take care of their employees, require so much experience, acknowledge how demanding the job is, and offer $8 an hour? I know it isn't the most difficult job on the planet, but my last job in this same city was as a gas station clerk, required no experience, and it paid $17.

I stood up, held out my hand to shake their's, said “thank you so much for your time today,” and left.
