Left my very first job for a better opportunity, they begged me to stay but I was dead set on leaving. I was interviewing for another company in the meantime that offered me a better pay but I was really passionate about the new company. Had my goodbye party today at the first job and everything. One hour after the party I get a phone call from my new employer telling me to not come in, and that some people have been temporarily laid off due to VCs decision. My new manager had also apparently quit two weeks ago. This company was growing like crazy and was on a hiring spree, so this was so unexpected.
I work in a foreign county and am on a worker’s visa, so this opens up a can of worms as I might not even be eligible for unemployment, and no severance package as I never officially worked there. I feel like I did everything right my whole life and life just slapped me in the face.
I hope to get back on my feet soon but this is taking a toll on me.
Any words of advice?
