I've worked in retail since I started working. I'd been aiming to get out for a while because constantly standing was starting to take a toll. I finally get a cushy admin job and… these jobs are a waste of time and energy. Most frustratingly, there's a bizarre assumption among those whose jobs have only been in offices (or have been in them too long) that their jobs are very important and stressful, and they are very skilled.
The barista I go to each morning works harder than everyone in my office. That's not a swipe at baristas – they work their asses off. Answering emails and pushing paper around is not a skill.
… I hate offices.
