I work in healthcare. Multiple staff have appropriately come forward and asked for earned (in my opinion) rate increases. The company is locked in at reimbursement rates that are set by the government as we primarily treat patients with Medicare, meaning the company can’t just raise the price of services with inflation. I understand that makes things difficult with reimbursement from insurance going down (15% cut this year from CMS) and employees asking for more money. As a team of mid level managers, we brought this up to our boss and the issues we are having with turnover and difficulty staffing. However, the response from Senior Management was laughable:
“We know most of this country lives paycheck to paycheck. People might need to start looking at if they really need Netflix AND Hulu, and similar decisions.”
