My old boomer boss is grating on me because he's one of those types where, you think you're getting along with him until work comes between you and him. He tends to expect perfection from you, to be done in a timely manner. Like you work a big room to clean, he wants it done in under 20 minutes, roughly. Whatever takes realistically longer, he wants it done shorter.
And his ideas are inconsistent, like recently on a group chat we have on the phone. I'm surprised the guy even bothered joining in since he's also not tech savvy. But, we're right now in a heated issue where two people have to work every weekend and we're going on a seniority level, meaning the last two hires are going to be doing it. Makes a lot of fucking sense, instead of going through a rotating cycle to prevent burn out.
The only thing that alleviates this is that we get the option of taking a day off in the week to accommodate that Saturday. Fine, I suppose. However, according to him on text, I'm not allowed to pick what day I am to have off even though someone else was allowed to do so. So which the fuck is it?
Now we're going to have a damn meeting Monday which I'm positive will go over so well. All because of this boomer who's out of touch to where his ideas aren't being sensical. He's been around for 20 years, he does have a handful of skills that make him valuable for what he does. It's just, he's corroding and needs to retire now.
