Yesterday at work I ripped a Karen a new asshole. And yes, I called her a Karen looking her dead in her eye multiple times.
This is because she was the textbook example of a Karen.
I feel absolutely in the right 100% for giving her back what she gave to me. This is post-COVID America here. I don't get paid enough to tolerate any form of abuse or bullshit from anyone, be they a coworker or a customer. THIS is the reason shit places like these can't find anyone to work for them – and not only is my place desperate for new people, things have been getting worse in the weeks leading up to the busiest months of the year.
So, if I'm going to be paid $13 an hour and deal with daily passive-aggressive shit from my managers? I'm drawing the line at bullshit from the customers. That's going to be the tradeoff.
So, tonight when I went in, I immediately received a write-up sheet because the bitch Karen decided, instead of saying something to the two managers in front of her yesterday (where I would've shut her down) she would call back later and make up her own story on the phone.
I took one look and told my night manager I was NOT signing it.
She told me I “had to” sign it. Because someone else had decided to listen to Karen and write me up without asking me what happened, speaking to me about the incident, getting my (correct) side, or telling Karen yesterday to get the fuck out of the store.
I told her “bye”, grabbed my bag, and left.
I stood outside waiting for my ride for a good 15 minutes. 15 minutes for them to come out and talk to me, once again attempt to actually speak to ME, their employee, about what happened, but nope. Nothing.
My ride came and I was gone.
Even if I do get a call tomorrow I'm not sure if I will agree to come back. It sucks, too, because I kinda was used to the job. I'm a fucking great employee, and have outlasted every other cashier there since I started.
Now they can enjoy the holidays with the ONE they have left.
