ATM I'm working as a cleaner at a shopping centre, I'm also getting paid minimum wage so I thought things would be according to minimum wage
At first things where simple, clean toilets, bins, floors of the centre and any spills, we also need to have a tracker on us for them to see how much we clock on different areas of the centre, so we need to maintain a pace… but now we get even more and more things to do, travelators, lifts, glass, covid sanitation (still…) edge mopping and miscellaneous things that we shouldn't be doing… (like we gotta jump in the garden beds outside of our zones and pick up thrown bottles)
Still on minimum wage and when we miss 1 thing, my boss threatens to either make things tougher or take out some of our hours, we still need to maintain the same tracked numbers… they complain that we (as a team) don't do our jobs, which originally was simple to know, now we get yelled at for things that arnt even our jobs (meant to be night shift but aparently the original people who did that left and now they hired new people who says it's too hard)
Even after that I gotta clean, level 2 & 3, 2 outside areas including putting shopping trolleys away (which is not my job and has other people who should do it) total of 5 different toilet areas, clean backhouse walk ways I never knew existed (which twist through the entire centre) clean stairwells, aparenly I'm now a fire warden!? Required 24/7 attention to whatsapp for work and whatever they wanna bother me about, gotta clean car park areas (which agian, we have people for this) also I do stock replishment, polish wooden surfaces, clean stores in the centre which had accidents AND aparently wait for police or ambulance (even though we have security and we don't need 3 guys on 1 dude that steals)
If you can't be bothered reading that wall of text, that's… what i gotta do… i honestly should leg it cause I doubt any other cleaners are having the same experience…
