Labor Shortage My Ass

I’ve been applying to jobs in a field that is claimed to be “in demand” since December. Out of hundreds of applications, I’ve only had 3 interviews. Out of those three interviews, I’ve had to go through some sort of preemployment screening like references and what not. I’ve gotten one offer and had it rescinded the very next day. I can’t believe that I have a degree in engineering and a strong job resume with high profile projects and I can’t find a job. I just want to move back to my home state and get out of the hell hole I’m currently living in. I just want a job that isn’t going to give me a panic attack by the end of the day. Everyone I talk to acts like this is normal and maybe it is, but it is not okay. I should not be burnt out at 24.
