so been working with a frozen storage company 2 years. i just got laid off friday. no explanation til a hour later via email saying due to hurricane damage in ft myers the company had to make cuts. i’m in miami but my company is based in ft myers. this all came to a shock to me cause i’ve put in so much. my position was basically customer service specialist/ warehouse coordinator. my duties were all on the computer however i always did work outside my title such as pick orders, down stack pallets, hand orders to clients. even did everything and ran the business after the supervisor quit. then we moved in a bigger warehouse and i was working in the office alone flooded with extra work cause of the high volume. never complained. actually 2 raises for my hard work. one guy got hired to help me but got fired over a client complaint. then i work alone again. no complain. then they hire this new girl who is a friend of the dock supervisor. she cool and works but also talks on the phone all day and forgets to do things that i end up doing. i gotta add that i never had complaints nor lectures about my performance. everything has been good and we all got along. ao my question is could it have been more than just the hurricane damage? i do believe it’s cause i got paid more and they felt sorry for the girl cause she’s a single mother but now i’m unemployed living alone with no help
