laid off one week after asking to negotiate a salary increase at the yearly review.

Last Tuesday I had my mid year review, where I was given a 9/10 on performance and promised a bonus. In my review I asked if I could negotiate a salary increase as it was significantly lower (30k or more less) than what an IT Manager should make in the city, The company president and I agreed to negotiate at the yearly review. Yesterday they let me go claiming they needed to lay off 1/3 of their employees to save the company from going under (around 35 employees total). The previous guy who was doing IT before me (he's a marketing manager) said he got laid off too, but I still see his posts scrolling through slack like nothing happened. This leads me to believe I got let go because I asked for a salary increase. A bit of background here, I left a 10 year long job for this…

A bit of background here, I left a 10 year long job for this company believing that it would be my future, and in the 7 months I was there I did more work for them than what I did at my previous place of employment, accumulated to about a page in a half on my resume.

Now I can't help but feel like I caused this loss just when I was just about to place my wife on my insurance to help cover the medical bills. Now I am facing losing something more dear to me.
