Laws regarding not getting paid on time?

So if your company is supposed to pay you on Wednesday and the direct deposit doesn't hit due to a glitch or something, what would be the workers course of action? Let's say it's only one day but a worker overdrafts because of it, does DOL state or fed have options? Thanks
