Leadership lays off contractor on Maternity Leave

I know it's not illegal, but damn if it's not nasty. I work with a team of developers. I found out that the team is getting cut practically in half. One of these developers getting cut is currently on maternity leave. They pay nothing for her to be on leave, and she isn't returning until January. Another one of the developers is our most experienced. She has been on the team the longest, and does some of the most thorough work I have seen. The ones are are keeping do not come close to how much time she has worked here. The ones staying are men. I do not know what to do. I have shared with the managers I talk to directly how I feel about this, but this place runs with red tape over every orifice. I was never told who made these decisions, just that it was…

I do not know what to do. I have shared with the managers I talk to directly how I feel about this, but this place runs with red tape over every orifice. I was never told who made these decisions, just that it was “leadership”. Such leadership didn't even show up to our latest demo, and have not ever spoken to me directly.

Checked LinkedIn and they're even HIRING MORE senior leadership. While they cut everyone's team saying it's because of sales being down this year and economic hardship. Sounds pretty contradictory to me.

Do I post about it on LinkedIn? Talk to HR? Just quit? I do not want to let this happen without some action against it.
