Learning to not strive to be the best

A little background;I work at a chain store and part of my job is dispensing groceries to people outside in their vehicles. Although we all signed up for the same job only about 30% of us have to dispense. Today I was not scheduled to dispense at all,but my boss’s boss told them to change it up because I am the faster associate so they completely rearranged the schedule to swap us. I love this job and I don’t mind dispensing,I would do it all day everyday if it were my assigned job;my issue is that clearly I’m NOT who they had in mind to do this job today. They care so much about metrics and their numbers that it doesn’t matter to them about being fair and the best workers have to do the most. We all signed up for the same job but this not being equal at all is killing me. AITA for deciding I’m doing the absolute bare minimum moving forward? At the moment I am the number one across the board for our jobs,but this makes me want to stop trying. I hate feeling like I’m not trying my best,but this is eating at me.
