Started at the company 4 years ago , company was doing around $14k – $20k In revenue per month. I took over as sales / analyst / procurement / basically everything other than progression.
I work 70 hours per week well outside of contracted hours and do a lot of deals on evenings and weekends , I almost single handedly turned the company from a 20k a month business to a 200k – 250k a month business , I was the entire sales force , I had to find real estate deals and find investors to buy them , it was getting to the stage where I was wondering where does the company come in?
Based on 10% commission I take home over six figures after taxes and it’s great , however ,Unlike huge companies selling a service based on spending thousands if not millions on marketing / leads , I work in a sector that is very easy to do yourself , we infact sell a course for only $6000 teaching people how to set up their own mini version of what we do, and these people genuinely make a good 5k – 20k per month doing it.
I could do this myself and make the same money by doing only 10% of the work , just like our students do , i or course am not allowed anywhere near the course material , even though my call recordings and scripts are used to teach them.
Up until now , the power balance was equal , a company of 30 people would be absolutely fucked if I was to leave (even the director , let’s call her Sarah, told me this ) so the company needed me as much as I needed the company.
I’m sold the dream of being made partner and all this talk of loyalty and family.
Then comes in a new manager , Derik , above me , and the first thing he does is hire a huge team around me all of people doing the same as me , under the guise of it being MY team.
Slowly piece by piece , all small parts of the job have been taken away from me and I have lost all authority I once had but still have the responsibility. So I’ve basically been made to train my competitors, they are not my team at all , now if I left the company , There wouldn’t be a dent.
I turned down many poach attempts , and didn’t start my own thing out of loyalty , and this manager has came in above me and taken all control , is making lots of mistakes which at this point I just sit back and allow to happen , as everything I say has gone from being a decision to being treated as a suggestion.
Has anyone had a similar situation ?
