Throwaway for reasons. So two weekends ago, myself and the entire staff at a local Atlanta establishment were fired via email in the middle of the night. In the letter it says that the bar will be under new ownership as of next month. Also, it said in the letter if we had any questions, call a number provided on the letter.
There were rumors of this happening but we were told not to worry, our jobs would transition to the new owner.
Well, the number on the letter goes to a google voicemail (no ring, straight to VM) same with the telephone number on the new owners Facebook page. As of now, mgt and owners aren’t returning calls, texts, or emails.
Next, we were told that the GM would only have interviews over a 3 day period. Again, no calls, no responses from anyone still with the company when we asked for an interview.
Fast forward to payday and there’s no direct deposit. I spoke with a few of the ex staff and they said they didn’t get paid either. The old owners said “they hadn’t sent the new checks out yet” (our pay day is the same day of the week, every week).
Fast forward to today. The checks they finally paid us bounced.
What to do if you were in my position? I’m just numb, worked in a place for years and then this. Fuck.
