Left job – Got significant raise, better company and perks

Read through a bunch of stories on here and thought I would share my own from a few years ago. I used to be a call centre manager for a small company, I was promoted along with a colleague. He ended up getting a new job after a few months and so I managed it solo for a year. After the 1 year was up, I asked for a raise as I was doing the job of 2 and was told it was not in the budget, this was despite my colleague being planned to be around for the full time and moving forward.

I was only offered maybe an extra $100 a month. I went out that evening and applied to one job. I didn't have a ton of confidence in myself and thought I wasn't as capable as I really am.

The one job got back to me. I jumped up about 12-13k a year salary before any over time (at my own discretion), pension, unionized and some other cool perks. I was asked if they could do anything to convince me to stay, I had put in 6 years with the company but told them no, I would be moving on regardless of them trying to match the salary etc.

I was told by a friend who still worked there it basically took 3 people to do my job, 1 new person they hired on for my job and 2 got handed some of my responsibilities.

Never doubt yourself guys and gals.
