I've come to the conclusion the only reason to pursue a high paying job is to do less of it. I've got to a standard of living I'm happy with and from this point on any and all of my focus in pursuing advancement will come with an exact 1:1 ratio of doing less hours. I think the value I put on my free time and hobbies has a pretty clear price but I'm not all that willing to sacrifice more for more kind of thing.
