I helped navigate my team and company through two years of Covid, led the rebound, just opened two new locations, posted results that were either #1 overall or #1 in YOY growth in every KPI we track, and today my boss told me my “position has been eliminated”. Conveniently just weeks after I invested huge amounts of myself into wrapping up several major projects.
I’m getting a generous severance so I’ll have time to figure out my next move, but it’s just another gentle reminder that your company’s core values are a lie, and once you go high enough up the chain everyone is just a line on a spreadsheet: completely disposable and replaceable by whatever is going to get faceless shareholders to their end of quarter financial goals.
