I was blindsided at work today when I got pulled into the office by my director and manager. I’ve been working at this place for four months, I’ve been doing well and working hard. Last month I got a raise and as far as I knew everything was great. I had a work event tomorrow that I was organizing, and I was so excited for it. Then out of nowhere I was let go today due to “customer complaints”. Apparently I turn my back on customers when they need help, or something along those lines? Which is not true, I always help people and if I’m busy helping one person and another walks up I tell them I’ll be right with them. But according to my director this has been going on for a while now and rather than discuss with me when it first happened, or give me a warning, a write up, training, literally anything… I was just let go. When they knew I’d quit my other job just a few weeks ago and was going back to school next month expecting the tuition reimbursement from this place. They gave me a severance which I appreciate but literally none of it makes sense, and I was so happy here. I’m lost, angry, and devastated.
