This happened several years ago.. i'm a teacher. Our principal (Pal) has decided that since our contract allows for up to 30 after-school meetings, by golly that's how many we are going to have, regardless of need.
So the whole faculty is here for our mandatory meeting and Pal starts talking about his plan for installing new carpets. It's a 17 part plan. 17 stages to put in carpeting. Each stage lovingly and specifically described with the time frame for installation. He then models several styles of carpet- different colors, patterns, pile depth, everything you ever want to know about carpet-this man has done his research!
After 45 minutes of this incredibly exciting lesson about carpets, one teacher raises their hand and asks “when are we going to vote on which carpet we want?”
“Oh,” he says, “I've already selected the carpet.” And proceeds to fill the rest of the hour with his extensive knowledge of carpeting. 100 teachers, for an hour, learning about carpeting. What a waste of our time.
Aftermath: the first stage of the plan is installed. He then ran out of funding and abandoned the project, so now 3 classrooms and one hallway have completely different than the rest of the school.
