Nobody ever wanted to “work.” The only people who put work on a pedestal are those with OCD who don’t know anything but work. Managers are just people whose OCD tendencies are with work. They haven’t found their own humanity.
We were meant to live, which is much more than simply being alive.
The whole “Protestant” work ethic is bullshit. Its just their OCD. If you aren’t working your are guilty. If you are working your guilty anyway because you are a sinner. Asking for better pay, time off, benefits, is laughable because you are a worthless sinner.
I don’t even think people fled Europe to America to escape persecution. I think they left because people there were tired of their shit. All these European countries have free college, universal healthcare, shorter work weeks, etc. They did not send their best.
