Let’s spin this years bonus / wage rises

Used to work for a small company acquired by a 700lb gorilla. Before : management was honest about pay, bonuses etc and they were reasonably decent. Now : having meetings about how to present what’s coming. Don’t they get that spinning this to a workforce who are plenty smart enough to see through it only creates barriers and reduces trust ? Especially when it never was like that before. Disappointing
