LinkedIn purely exists to make you feel bad about your work

LinkedIn is an absolute cesspool of a website, the entire purpose seems to be making you feel bad for the pace of your life and how everyone else is doing great, great things. Posts on LinkedIn basically boil down to the following: A forwarded article from a tech start-up CEO boasting about how great their culture is because all of their seats have been replace by unicycles, and how the secret to success is being friends with the guy in the mailroom because it gives you a holistic view on the breadth of human life. LinkedIn is an absolute cesspool of a website, the entire purpose seems to be making you feel bad for the pace of your life and how everyone else is doing great, great things.

Posts on LinkedIn basically boil down to the following:

  • A forwarded article from a tech start-up CEO boasting about how great their culture is because all of their seats have been replace by unicycles, and how the secret to success is being friends with the guy in the mailroom because it gives you a holistic view on the breadth of human life.
  • Someone you worked with years ago who was an insufferable narcissist, letting everyone know they have a new and exciting job with a flashy title. It's going to mean big things and that's why every poor soul who's had the misfortune of crossing paths with them needs to know and congratulate them.
  • A recruiter who a long time ago put you forward for a role, but never even got around to passing on the interview feedback when you were unsuccessful, doling out life advice on how to better manage your day. Of course, that means working 'Smart' not hard, and how eating granola before 6am every day has made them see additional colours and converse with sealions.
  • A bluechip company you follow for some reason but aren't really sure why, virtue signalling their new charitable initiative which amounts to making their employees perform half a day of pro bono work in a field, all the while posting record profits in the billions.
  • Gary the International Marketing Director from that place you once interned, posting yet another reel from his work funded “factfinding” trip to Dubai with hashtags that just list things in the photos #skyscraper #car #desert #breakfast
