Had 1:1 with the new manager she has been in this role not even a month. Prior to that she was one of us a worker bee…she deserved the promotion she has been busting his ass….
Before i continue…i should mention our team is about 5 of us…and we should have at least 15 people…so we are technically a skeleton crew well maybe less than that.
So a lot of us worked thru our days off, during vacation and thru holidays since there is no back up for us. We support several critical applications for the company if these apps are not up and running it will be an “oh shit moment”
So this has been going on for several years….a new director comes in and right away he is doing his best to devalue what we do here and our skill set…and how our team works in silos and we don't engage other teams… We mention there is no work life balance we should have more people on staff his reply was “well we are all working very hard and we rarely get to see our families” not one addressing the issue of staff shortage.
So our new supervisor which we all like she tells everyone on their 1:1 that he has been instructed by the new director that he will lower everyone's rating to meet expectation. Our supervisor she was not happy with this…since she was one of us not even a month ago…she has 3 little kids so she had to sacrifice a lot to provide support as well same as us working thru her vacation etc….
So working thru my vacation, on the weekend, late at night and thru holidays is only meet expectations if thats not a clear sign to get the fk out i dont know what else is….on top of all this right he is also telling his VP how he will also shaping up the team to be center of excellence and we WILL be avoiding human performance events…now the above is on top of doing a kick ass job and minimizing outages.
Like what sort of bullshit is this you stack the deck against our team not hiring more people, you expect us to operate as we have 15 people but we only have 5…and on top of all this shit…there is no me time to take a mental break or enjoy the time with family nope we have to support the applications. Then we get told that they is a new directive to provide help to us to they will be filling out the positions with contractors…and how we all should be start documenting what we do on day to day…what do to when we trouble shoot etc…
I updated my resume and my linkedin profile…as soon as the new year hits i will start looking to get out this is just fking nuts. what sucks is I really enjoy the work part of it and the company is pretty good is just this bullshit is insane….
