Hey everyone. So, my wife doesn't have reddit so i am posting this from her. I thought it might be insightful for her and I to hear some other perspectives. We are in the U.S. by the way.
“I came from a company which treated its employees horribly. I've only been with this new company for less than a year, however it is clear they care about their employees.
I have the opportunity to advance in my current company. Going from a teller to a manager, making triple what I am currently. I have no issues with my salary now, and have no desire to be a manager. I have major reserves, including not knowing how to do the job, no management experience, stressful work life, and just all around doesn't sound fun to me. However triple the pay would be pretty life changing. What should I do? “
She is leaning towards turning it down. Personally, I think it may be a great opportunity, but it's not me in the position to make the decision. I support her completely whatever she chooses to do. I can definitely understand wanting to turn it down as well. I used to manage several restaurants, got fed up with the stress and bullshit, and quit to work for myself, alone, outdoors. She is not in the restaurant business, though, and her company is structured around regular work week hours. Also, I was getting paid trash.
Thanks everyone in advance for taking the time to read and or respond.
Edit 1: missing word “life changing”.
