Working at a restaurant, kid came in a little over 2 months ago, first job, took him under my wing.
Started in dish with me, he was slow, but got good, fast. Trained him in rooms, then making pizza, and started training him on dessert.
Had a damn good attitude, could take a joke, and I told him to not let management push him around when things aren't right, kid was a sponge.
Onto a couple nights ago, new kid got hired, so we was getting trained by my little duckling, they got to talking, found out that dude on day one, still training, was making over $2 more than him, called out management on it, they said they'd “take a look” and that it could take up to 2 weeks for them to review it. I had his back, got management to agree to give a raise quicker, but to no avail, he was gone the next morning. Can't say I blame him.
I hate when employers take advantage of kids like this. Just wanted to vent if that's okay. Good luck on wherever life takes ya, John, you were one of the good ones.
