I've been at my job for almost two decades (since the flip-phone era), and modern job searching is very new for me.
The flagrant lying in job descriptions is crazy.
Title: “Remote”
Description: “Remote”
Location: “Remote”
Must be willing to commute/relocate: Required
Or:
This is a hybrid role, must be on site (whenever)
They're seeking a highly skilled worker for a role that requires technical competence and careful attention to detail – and they're trying to “trick” us with minor wordplay in a job description?
What's the desired outcome here? That we'll rub our neck, guffaw, and say, “Didn't notice that last bullet point, guess I'll uproot my life and change all my life plans, h'yuck!”
Congratulations – you got me to click on your stupid job and waste two minutes of my life.
And may I say this to them will all sincerity – I hope you get the employees you deserve.
