MAKE THIS A COPYPASTA

Hey there. 27 year old here. I want this to be a top comment. This “generation” stuff is honestly out of date too. The “9/11 generation” consists of those born between 1978-2000. Old enough to remember what happened but too young to truly grasp everything it meant. We were born into a world the promised us the same as generations past and DEMANDED our best. Over 1999, the 2000s and the 2010s we witnessed the entire illusion deteriorate. 9/11, Columbine, Virginia Tech, more government/bank/big business scandals than ever before, slow response to hurricane Katrina, 2 recessions, more police violence (particularly on black America) than ever before, the ongoing wars on terror and drugs with taxpayer dollars (we lost both; and most that died are from our generation), school shootings become normalized, division and breakdown of our society, the ever worsening environmental crisis, the rise of terrorism (despite said war on…

The rich have been secured while we've been forced to adapt and suffer. “Millennials” says we have better technology than previous generations. But that technology let us who weren't there to experience trauma experience it in a new way on our own. These old ass politicians are doing everything they can to hold their power and we suffer for their genuine real life lack of understanding and empathy. It only gets more terrifying once you think more and more about it. And it's only going to get worse as we get older. More of us are dying than ever before in poverty, suicide, homicide, overdoses, etc.. The rest of us are gonna be traumatized as fuck as we get older. And we'll be hoping for Alzheimer's and dementia at that point. r/Antiwork has the right idea, but we need to go much bigger. The pre-9/11 generation had a completely different experience than we did. And the post-9/11 generation really is going to wind up just as different. We need to look ahead too and make sure the next generation has a chance to make this world a better place. We need to start having THIS conversation. Make this a copypasta. We're all in this together. It's not like we were ever given a choice.
