This is my first post here and it seems like rants are okay to post and I need to get this off my chest.
I’ve had worse jobs than this, much worse. But never have I had a more out of whack compensation to responsibility ratio. I’m a department of one supporting a company of 40,000 in 4 states. I got a 2.75% raise in 2020 and a 3% this year despite being constantly verbally blown by everyone.
What really grinds my fucking gears though is that I do the job of a Director but my title is Senior Analyst and I rather suspect this is so they can get someone to do a director’s job at an analyst’s salary. I brought this up at my last performance review and the reaction was, after spending 15 minutes telling me how great I was, basically “haha yeah great idea let’s circle back to that never”
Which brings me to LinkedIn
I’ve been using it to look for new jobs. I stumbled across the profile of the recruiter for a position I applied for about a week ago. She has a post up “hey I’m hiring for this position, know anyone?” I was going to comment, “Hi, I applied for this position recently, was just wondering if there’s any preliminary questions I can answer or anything I can do blah blah blah.”
Except I realized LinkedIn shows ALL YOUR COMMENTS ON POSTS TO EVERYONE YOURE CONNECTED TO. Did I mention I was required to connect with senior department leadership on LinkedIn some months back? There’s also NO FUCKING GODDAMN WAY TO TURN THIS OPTION OFF.
So if I ask this question my director and Vice Presidents are highly likely to see I’m actively looking for new work.
Fuck you linkedin, no one wants to use your stupid bullshit site to connect or discuss or anything we use it to find work and you need to fucking acknowledge that. And fuck this job for underpaying me by 50%
