First time posting on this sub, so apologies in advance.
I work in logistics and we are understaffed. Recently we sat through a meeting where one of my two managers, who I'll call Bob, announced a new streamlining of the process that will eliminate most of the international document process, which is most of my workload.
Since I got along well with Bob I called and voiced my genuine concerns of what I would do once this automation goes through. Bob said I could work with truckers in dispatch or help a coworker pay invoices. I've worked with truck drivers before, and am over that. My coworker spends 6 hours a day paying invoices, so I told him no thanks to that.
Fast forward to end of day and I get a call saying Bob's boss wants to meet with me. Turns out Bob did not keep this between us and they brought up my tone, along with past mistakes that cost the company money to show why we were automating. The boss even got irate when I could not recall a mistake I made in April 2022. It's logistics, everything is moving fast by default. They extended the offer Bob made.
I told them I would think about it, but in reality I'll be looking more aggressively for a new posting.
Moral of the story? Even if you get along with your manager, they are not your friend.
Sorry for the rant, just had to get this off of my chest.
