Here's a little backstory: me and a colleague of mine both applied to an internal job. My experience matches closely the experience required atthe new job while my colleague's is similar at best.
He was given the job and my manager gave me some bs feedback on why i did not get it.
I am absolutely sure that he was promissed this new job even before having the interview, since they were overconfident about getting it. The interview did not have any technical questions (for a highly technical job).
The question is: is it worth trying to uncover the truth and asking for a real reason or am i just loosing my time?
