What the hell is wrong with managers and forcing workers to do party tricks? I am a native American and I work at a startup. My manager a 40 something year old white man, is really into company culture.
We had to fill out forums for diversity a few months ago, which is when my manager found out I’m native American. He has never let it down since. He was really excited to have a “unique” friend, were not friends, were co workers.
Hes been asking me questions about native culture ever since. He asked me what music i liked and when i told him drake and taylor swift, he laughed and told me to till him some “real” musicians. I assumed he meant native ones so i told him a native artist that my sister showed me( im not really into native American music) the next day at work, when he saw me, he patted his stomach and grunted “ooooooh”. At first i just thought he was being weird, but then it hit me. That was a dance in the native music video
. I thought he was just weird and moved on. But then after the lunch break, i saw him wearing a feather in his hair. I again, ignored him not wanting to get involved with him, but he came up to me when i was working and told me hes been researching my culture and had an idea. I was weirded out and annoyed, but hes my boss so I acted polite and asked what. He said he thought it was a good idea if i dressed up like an Indian and acted like our companies mascot. This was the final straw so i informed hr, and waiting for results. Why cant managers be normal?
