Today my manager texted me that he has covid. A coworker recently quit and we had been sharing covering her shifts, so we've been overworked to say the least. (I work in a 24hr facility so there always a manager/Supervisor on site since we deal in medications and emergencies). I was ready to be asked to help cover half of his shifts while he quarantined, and while I was right, he really did good by me. He asked if I minded covering his main duties which take approximately an hour and that he would give me the full 8hrs PLUS 30mins of overtime to cover gas. So, while I may be working the next 14 days straight, at least I feel that my time is being respected.
I work at a non-profit, so wages are just barely livable, raises are low (4% this year for COL), and staffing can be an issue. But at least this feels like a win to keep me from burning out quite yet.
