I hope nobody here recognizes me because this is a mad specific situation. I work for a company that does mostly in town local contract work but occasionally drives out of town with a company van provided. I showed up to the meet site to pick up the company van and found that someone had broken into the van over the weekend, there was dirty clothing, food wrappers and ashes all over the back of the van and notably the battery was dead. While trying to figure out what to do someone comes by and jumps the van for us so we get ready to go. I get in the van and notice that the low oil light, low tire warning and check engine light are all on. The driver side door was also broken from a previous driver so none of the buttons or lock worked and the window was held up by tape. I called my manager and let them know and let her know that the van was in no way safe to drive and they contacted their manager and got back to me saying that if we refuse to drive the van he would fire myself, everyone who was scheduled that day and the manager I spoke to initially, six people total. I personally fully intended to call his bluff but other people agreed to drive their personal vehicles the 3hrs each way for the job.
I've already looking for a new job but this is absolutely wild to me. I can't deal with this anymore.
