So after working for my latest company for a couple of months i found a new role with a direct competitor (saw some red flags with how the manager speaks to people and decided i dont want that to be my life) offering more money promotion and a better package and handed in my resignation
They gave me a call and asked me how long i thought my notice period was and I said i figured it was 1 week as it says in my contract they can fire me with one weeks notice if they want it during my trial period. They were unhappy with this and said theyd need to speak to HR
call one hour later and they said that my notice period is 4 weeks not one but as im off to work for a competitor so now i have to go on garden leave for that entire time where they pay me for my notice period but i cant be involved in the business
Tldr
Line manager unhappy that i might get to leave after one week after handing in my resignation accidentally scores me 4 weeks paid holiday
