So the other day at work I have a really bad sore throat. Figured I’m probably getting sick. Tested for Covid and I’m negative. The next day I feel terrible (weak, sore throat, congestion, very runny nose). So I tell my manager when I get there “hey I feel really bad I might not make it through my whole shift”. She says ok just work up til your lunch. Ok whatever. So I go home early. Then today I come in at 5am. Feeling even worse than yesterday but I want to make an effort because one of my coworkers is out and we’re already short handed and I can tell my manager is frustrated. So I come in clearly worse than the day before. She doesn’t ask how I’m feeling, or if I’m feeling better, or if I need to go home early. Btw important to note that I work around food. In a deli. So realistically if she sees I’m too sick she should be telling me I can go home immediately. But she doesn’t hardly say anything to me all day. Anyway I get a lot done actually and my other coworkers are even telling me to just go home and rest otherwise I won’t get better so I tell my manager I’m going to lunch but I might just head home because I’m struggling. She just says ok well let me know if you’re coming tomorrow so we can figure it out. She says go to the doctor if you need to. So I text her and let her know yes I’m not coming back from my lunch I need rest and I’ll just call out tomorrow. She says ok since you’ve went home early twice and are calling out tomorrow can you please get a doctors note. Now my job requires if you miss 3 days due to sickness you need a doctors note. I didn’t technically miss days. I probably will get a note because it’s not a big deal but I’m more annoyed at the fact that she’s asking me for one for basically calling out 1 day. Also the lack of appreciation for me trying to work even when I’m sick when I could’ve just called out all weekend. And also why would you need a doctors note that isn’t required when you literally are working with me and you can tell I’m sick.Plus my job is very aggressive about call outs. They want you to never call out. Upper management constantly giving you grief for being sick or missing days. Part of me wants to be petty and be like I don’t need a note. Part of me just wants to not cause trouble and do as asked. Just wondering what others thought
