Manager wants me to reach out to someone who was laid off 3 months ago

3 months ago they laid off this guy who’s been at the company for 10+ years. He knew the design and was working in multiple big projects at the time. They said it was an org change and let him go with no advance notice and no transition plan. Now my manager wants me to reach out to him personally to get info from him cause they can’t find anything on his laptop and didn’t retain any info before letting him go. Fuck this. Fuck corporate America. Fuck the fact that all I can do is not do anything and pretend I never got a response because I can’t wrap my head around how this is my responsibility. I wish I don’t have bills to pay and just hand in my resignation immediately without having a job lined up.
