Hi, I’m a 22(F) and I work for a corporate location at a carwash company, and I’ve been there for a little over a year and 10 months. When I first applied it was a dream come true, it came with $15.50/hr ( my former job was $8.25hr and 13hr shifts. So this job was an amazing opportunity for me) and reasonable hours. The latest I can leave is 6:30pm. Since I’ve been there management changed for the worse, our equipment that is supplied is faulty and conflicts with how we work. The clothing that they supply us is bad material( we work outside) and I find myself taking multiple trips to academy just to have proper gear to stay warm or cool outside. My coworkers and I supply our own water when it’s over 100 degrees outside more expense on our part. Our group is mostly women and 2 guys but there has been some harassment in the workplace and the managers do nothing about it. I’ve only been sexually harassed once by a customer, brought it to a manager and was blamed. I shrugged it off cause what can I actually do. To reach HR is a secret number that I’ve been trying for months to get. But today I finally have it in my hands. Besides all the problems, they have been wasting my time. I live a little ways from my job and takes me 30mins (1 hr for traffic) to get to work ( which is no problem cause my family also works down the street, I work near family) but I still live far. Now with the rain season, our schedule is suppose to cut from 9hr to 6hrs, its reasonable 2 people in the morning shift and 2 people evening shift. No breaks working 6hr per person. Well the new managers refuse to follow this organized schedule that benefits everyone financially. I find myself leaving home at 6:30am getting to work at 7:20am, TAKING A “MANDATORY” BREAK!! (An freaking unpaid hour) Then leaving work before 12pm. By following a series of ridiculous chaotic schedules my earnings went from making $1,250 a paycheck to $600. I’m writing this because my management doesn’t care at all. I haven’t been able to go grocery shopping in a month cause I can’t afford it. I was luckily enough to have enough for rent. ( it was rent or food) I went to a food drive so that I can at least have something for thanksgiving. Today I’ve only worked 3 hrs!! While my coworker only worked 2. I’m having to use my PTO just to make ends meet this next paycheck. So far I know that 80% of us is currently looking for a job, and I’m awaiting an approval or denial letter from an remote position that was referred to me by my best friend. I want to report the new management team to HR, but my biggest fear is having HR do nothing. But I’m also leaving if I get this better job. What should I do?
