Hey antiwork, I work in a restaurant in California. Managers legally aren’t allowed to participate in the tipping pool. To work around this, the managers reclassified themselves as “shift leads”, and are now going to take 20% of our tips for themselves. Is this legal? I know managers legally can’t get tips, but is there anything legally stopping them from calling themselves “shift leads” in order to take our tips? Is there anything me or my fellow workers can do?
