Mandatory overtime and, of course, not paid

I was just randomly reading posts here and just remembered my “first job” when I just finished studying at the university (IT engineer here). After the interviews I got hired on a IT consulting company (billing over 100M/yearly), a bit shitty pay but normal working hours and quite close to where I lived back then. After signing the contract I went to a small conference room with another few other newcomers and the girl in charge begin to give a speech to us. Everything normal until she began to talk about the working hours, from 9am to 5:30pm, with 30 minutes for lunch but… (sic) “usually we finish at 7:30-8pm, overtime is mandatory and it is no paid”. I quit that very day but my inner me was not just fuming for that kind of guts they had, but for those other newcomers that didn’t even react to those words…
