Writing this on behalf of an employee that works in a warehouse distribution center for a retail store.
Based in DFW Texas, USA.
I was told by said employee that they were told to do mandatory overtime (total of 10 hours OT) for the week- which totally legal in Texas based on my research… But that the 10 hours overtime can't be done after 5pm (no idea why). Now keep in mind, it seems like a common worshift is 10h a day for four days out of the week and start early between 6-7am and end between 4-5pm. Which given that, it seems like employees are being forced to come in on their off days to meet that requirement. Is that legal?
Side note: workers are allowed to work overtime after 4-5pm and get paid OT pay, but those hours worked after 4-5pm don't count towards the 10 required hours of OT for the week.
Also, there is no union at this warehouse
