I'm at a loss. My company wants to move to mask optional, BUT they won't allow us to wear respirators (KN95 / N95) – aka the only masks that will actually protect the wearer. Why!?!? I can literally think of no reason why they need to control what mask we wear voluntarily – it has got to be more protective than someone's bare face.
I'm very concerned about the potential long term health effects from covid and have miraculously avoided it thus far, but I guess that streak is over. Maybe I'm being dramatic, but it really does feel like they are denying me safe conditions to work in for some stupid power trip.
I know that companies will do anything and everything in the name of profit and am not so disillusioned to think they wouldn't drop me in a heartbeat if it suited them. But I didn't think they'd go out of their way to screw me over when it doesn't benefit them.
My work handles medication for very vulnerable people, too. I'm just so disappointed and feel that I'm going to be fired for trying to protect myself. I'd make a stink about it if it happened, but I doubt it'd cause much bad PR for their stupid policies.
I'm sure there is worse out there… I just needed to rant. I feel so helpless.
