Hi! I've read many posts here identifying a shared theme. People in positions of authority often mistreat subordinates. I often think to myself, “these abusive people are ordinary.” In my opinion, with each post, we see precisely what ordinary people do in positions of power. There is no sovereign work-society with misguided morals from the rest of us. These are people raised in our communities in these positions of power. World-famous Psychologist Philip Zimbardo remarks that “there are no bad apples, only bad barrels.” I agree with the statement after reading his findings. I wonder if managerial positions create cruel behavior due to job stress levels and unrestrained power, or if these people rise to upper management because of their potential to be malicious. What are all your thoughts on this?
