I used to work at McDonald's for a long time. I liked it so long as there weren't many people wanting McDonald's, and we had a lot of people. McDonald's is so popular though that there's rarely a break from customers and people quit regularly so there's just waves of people. I worked at McDonald's from March of 2020 to may of this year. I have a lot of knowledge about this, so it pisses me off even more.
Recently I went to McDonald's to get some cheap food. I occasionally go there to catch up with friends and eat food due to the many ways I know of to get extremely cheap food ($11 for 4 burritos, double cheeseburger, nuggets and a shake). I met up with one gal that I trained and she told me some dumbass stuff that has been going on. Apparently they have been cutting back hours and barely assigning people night shift.
Now for me, I would've loved less hours. Although, that was mostly due to the fact that I was a lazy highschool kid with no loans or bills. The main issue is that the majority of people who work there are adults with mortgages and lives. This seriously affects them as they can't just not work. They can't really get second jobs as well as the schedule is too crazy. Not only that, but they also barely get paid at all. I worked for a long time and I was paid $11 at the tail end. It's not enough to live off of.
Now, night shift is really discriminated against. We're usually the best workers, but we usually have to deal with barely any one in the house. Morning usually has around 8 workers, which should be the usual schedule (1 in the back, 3 in kitchen, 3 in front, 1 fry machine). It is the best formation before getting to be too much. It's very common though for night shift to have 3 people working at a time. I've worked all positions in both formations and the latter sucks. I heard that it's in another wave of only being 3 people, but there are plenty of people who work there currently. It's usually because of the lack of slaves.
I quit twice due to the stupidity of management and it sucks to hear they're still doing the bullshit that made me quit twice.
Tl:Dr – McDonald's management is stupid and doesn't care about their employees. Barely pays them and doesn't schedule them.
