To start, I'm not sure if anyone knows just how bad the cannabis industry is in Denver, CO. It's basically flooded with young people looking for minimum wage jobs just so they can get the “cannabis worker” status. This makes it impossible for people who want serious pay to get it. Every single. company. I have worked for is a revolving door.
This is the second time this has happened to us.
The first was at Golden Meds years ago, when we started we were told we were in a certain position, then they moved us to a different building and to different positions. When confronted about our expected raise and positions, our boss turned physically red and screamed at us about how we should be thankful for working there and that he could put us out on the streets. We were fired without reason.
This most recent job we were hired told that we would be making a certain wage after two weeks. The whole time we were paid less, asking them every chance we could. They said nothing. Until a month and a half rolls by and we are told we are being fired for asking and talking to our coworkers about wages.
This needs to change somehow, people need to take unions seriously. The first cannabis union was brought up a few months ago. Why stop there?
I figured here was the best place to rant, I just wish things would change.
