So, throwaway account since some coworkers know my other handle. I started a new role 5 months ago and the team is drastically different from my last. Even with knowledge transfer they completely changed up things and asked for different outcomes. Okay cool, I changed my methods. I meet with my direct report boss 3 times a week to update her and get on the same page while also using this time to ask for feedback and tips for any improvements.
Most of the time the feedback is very minor and I correct quickly. However today was a different story. Today we did a touch point and she spent 5 minutes telling me “don’t take this personal” before grilling me about not taking my job seriously, she feels I lack motivation, and come off like I don’t care about timelines or the projects I’m working on…She even says if I ask X, I’ll get the same feedback… but I meet with X quite often too and have been told I’m doing great….I’m completely blind sided by this and feel like there’s another motive behind randomly slapping me with all my faults now rather than when I asked for them.
This was a 30 minute call today and she wasn’t finished… I have another ass blasting scheduled… I’m already looking for another team to join because I clearly “suck” and don’t do well reading my bosses mind when she says I’m doing fine but she really doesn’t think I am. I usually record my meetings too (to help with taking notes) and she refused to speak today until I stopped recording so there’s that.
