So I finally put my foot down and stood up for myself. My boss wants me to train a new hire who is a senior (which means a higher salary) in my position while I am not a senior in the role. I stated that it wouldn’t be appropriate for me to train him and that judging by my 2% merit raise this year that upper management wouldn’t be comfortable with it either. My boss stated that my whole increase in pay since I started at the company has been 12% and that is more than fair with the role that I am performing. I’ve been with the company for over 4 years and in this role for over 1 year. Has anyone else had this experience where a company takes your entire merit history into account for a yearly merit?
