Misleading postings?

I applied at a place I had previously worked, for a job I was very familiar with. This job was a portion of the duties of a job I quit (at the same place) earlier in the year. So basically, my old job was now: Job 1 – full time 40 hours Job 2 – part time 25 hours (the posting I applied for) I left on good terms, and several people there had agreed to be references for me. I reached out to them to make sure we're all good, and ended up asking about the posting. I was advised that the duties would include two major events. Those were not detailed in the posting, but “event planning” was so I figured they were just summing it up with that. I mentioned thinking 25 hours might not be realistic, but they assured me it was. I applied at a place I had previously worked, for a job I was very familiar with. This job was a portion of the duties of a job I quit (at the same place) earlier in the year.

So basically, my old job was now:
Job 1 – full time 40 hours
Job 2 – part time 25 hours (the posting I applied for)

I left on good terms, and several people there had agreed to be references for me.

I get an interview. They send me the full job description in advance. Imagine my surprise when those two events are detailed in the duties, in the middle of the duties (example below). This meant that the posting included items from above those points and below those points, but mysteriously excluded those major items. And these are big things. I used to do the job, in addition to the other duties, and it took up a lot of my time.

Example:

  • duty included in posting
  • duty included in posting
  • duty not included in posting
  • duty not included in posting
  • duty in posting

I asked them about it. Apparently it was a mistake. But they said I knew about them already.

That's not the point, fam! The point is that you posted a misleading posting.

So I ask if they want to delay my interview to repost as other applicants might feel misled. Haven't heard back.

Also, she basically said she is looking forward to my questions about the role as it's new and my experience would help define it better. So, I'm feeling like they're not planning on hiring me, but rather using me to consult on a role they don't understand.

I'm angry and disheartened. I like to believe the best in people but this is leaving a bad taste. I'm not even sure I should proceed with the interview at all.

Employers, this is why you lose good people. They used to be ethical, now I don't know what happened to them.
